I've done quite a bit of searching and found some interesting info, but I was curious if anyone had any input based on my particular issue. My shifter became stuck in park, if I hit the break peddle I no longer hear the click coming from the console/shifter area.. if I hit the break 30 times maybe one of the 30 will I hear the click and be able to move out of park. I used the screwdriver/emergency override technique once and then everything seemed to work fine for a few hours.. almost as if the solonoid was stuck and that somehow released it, but now it's stuck in park again and even after playing with the override it didn't start working again like yesterday. My break lights work fine, so based on this I'm thinking it's not a fuse, not the stoplight switch, but something in the console where the gearshifter is.. since playing with the emergency override made it work for a few hours.. I'm thinking it's not the relay either and is a problem with the solonoid.

Does this sound about right to you guys? I'd like to fix this myself, I dont have the $$ to pay the dealer to do this..

Look forward to hearing some responses, my QX4 does this all the time and I am constantly pressing and depressing the brake to free that dang shifter.

Remove the trim surrounding the ashtray and check that the shifter linkage isn't caught on anything.
