Shifter stuck in lock mode

I dont know about the rest of you guys, but my remote for my 97 Q only works about 505 of the time in parking garages. So I parked in one today and had to lock the car with the key. Came back out unlocked it with the key. Now I have to push the shift lock button to shift no matter what.

What could have caused this and how the hell do i fix it?

one has absolutly NOTHING to do with the other....check brake switch on brake pedal to solve shift lock issue.

Alright only reason I ask is because my security light wont turn off since it happened, but ill check the brake switch.
