Okay, I did what i thought was the proper shifter repair on my s14 5sp, pulled the shifter and replaced a little white piece on the very end of the shifter. Nada, as bad if not worse than it was before. Did i get the wrong part? What's the deal?also, i redid my rear brakes, brembo rotors, axxis pads, new shims....I figured out the major problem with the old brakes though...the inside right rear pad was gone down to the backing material, the rest were in good shape, i replaced them all around 15k ago..Why would 1 pad wear out when the rest were decent? Sticking caliper? (It was on the piston side of the caliper...) or what? thanksast

The brakes were most likely bled incorrectly, try rebleeding the brakes using proper technique. You probably already didnt so it's probably fine now.

Okay, i'll have the brakes bled when i've got the car in for the tire mounting and alignment...Anyone have any idea what's up with my shifter? It's actually alot better, doesnt rattle in 5th much now, just 1st, 2nd, 3rd...since most of my driving is in 5th it's pretty nice...I'd still like to know what i need to fix it right though

Is it a stock shifter? If it's any sort of short shifter, vibrating is super common.

Stock as far as i know...Throw's nearly 6 inches front to rear...Im wondering if it's the area where the larger ball on the shifter sits...it was really loose....
