shifter question

i put my shifter in yesterday and now when i put it in neutral it looks like it is in 1st or 3rd. i would have to take off the boot/trim piece to have enough clearance to shift.

i think i got the shifter in backwards. does the bend point tord the front?

nope! Towards the rear. Stock shifter?
