I searched....

The other day, while trying to merge with traffic, my shifter came completly off and went all wobbley untill it found its way back into place. If I lift up on the shifter it comes completly out. On top of that, my shift knob has seased completly and will not come off making it super hard to squeese those giant jesus-clips into place with the whole shift boot assembley flopping around.

So that being said. Does anybody know if SR Shifters are the same as CA shifters? Seems that SRs are alot cheaper and easier to find. What brand do you recomend and why? Thanks in advance fellas. -Shane

Yall have no idea how stuck this knob is. Its NOT coming off lol. I had the whole shifter out of the car, in my bench-vise with a belt-type wrench. tried PB blaster,WD40.... The only other thing i can think of is heating the knob with a torch to mabey make it expand a little. But The good news is I finaly got that giant jesus-clip in and my shifter no longer pops out at random. Catch is the sticker that says where the gears are located is upside down lol. I guess Ill save up for an SR B&M shifter or something and modify the housing if I have to.

Heat > loc-tight

Heat up the metal part of the shifter. The heat will go up into the threads of the shift knob and should break the loc-tight loose.

A dremel and an inch diameter cutoff wheel. It is the handiest tool ever. It destroys what you are cutting off. but has saved me on several occasions.

OK, FYI, all S13 shifters are exactly the same. You can use a SR, KA, CA shifter or any combo there of. Also, the R31, R32, R33 and Z31 shifters are also 100% identical to the S13 and S14 shifters. S15 is different cause it was 6 speed.

In summary: S13, S14, R31, R32, R33 and Z31 shifters are all the same, no matter what motor you have.
