Shifter problem :/

Hey everyone I just got my tomei shift knob in the mail to replace my navon one and when trying to take the navon one off the whole shift knob and assembly just simply dropped down pretty violently. It seems to be only a c-clamp on the upper part of the assembly that let it fall but I just want to know if there is anything I could have broke.

Sounds like that shifter brace is broken

It was indeed the shifter brace. It has been successfully replaced and everything is good now.
