Shifter problem

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I get in and put my foot to the brake to start the car, but after the car starts, the mechanism that releases the shifter-lock doesn't engage. I am sitting there with my foot on the brake trying to move the shifter, but it remains locked. I tried releasing my foot from the brake and reapplying, jiggling the shifter, squeezing the shifter, etc. Eventually, after a long time (sometimes over a minute), it engages. This is messed up, right? Anyone else have this happen?

This happened to me, also.

I took it into the Dealer and got it fixed under Warranty.

It was an Interlock device that failed.

Sometimes if you move the steering wheel from side to side that does the trick.
