shifter problem?

what up boyz i got an 89 nissan 240sx , with the sohc engine ,whenever i start my car or really give it gas the shifter shakes like the whole ****ing short shifter and everythig but only when its in neutral other wise its steady it just shaes when reving in neutral. is this normal and if not then does any body know what the problem is?

I assume it's a man. trans!! If so a certain amount of shifter shaking is normal during starting. On acceleration the shifter should move slightly do to engine torque but vibrating could be weak engine and trans mounts. There is a couple of bushings in the shifter assembly cover that are plastic and break or just wear out that make the shifter real loose and amplify the shaking of the engine trans assembly. The bushing on bottom is a half in. dia. cap type and the top is a ball socket type with a snap ring under the boot.
