**Shifter Play Fix?**

Just got my 240sx, noticed when I put it in gear, there is alot of play in the shifter. It has alot of abnormal play in gear, I can move it around alot. Any ideas on how to fix this? can it just be tightened up? Thanks!!!

short shifter...a real one...makes it nice and tight!!!

Alright, cause I was looking to buy a short shifter anyway. Yeah but it moves in gear as bad as it does when it moves in neutral.

go for the B&M shifter, jst bolts on with 6 bolts. or you can get the knock-off one for 80 bucks on ebay. i used to have the knock-off but the plastic piece on the tip of the shifter wore out in 4 months causing rattle during acceleration. u get what u pay for.

im guessing your shifter bushing wore out.

how much of a reduction does the B&M SS reduce? 30%, 50%?

I saw a forum somewhere that showed you how to get rid of that rattle noise. I've got a short throw shifter and my plastic crap broke off. Still works good but rattles bad. Anyone know where that forum page is so i can fix mine?

The B&M is very short compared to stock, I'd say somewhere in 50% of so.

I have the first version, which rattles a bit at high RPMs, makes some funny noises. Supposedly version 2 eliminates that, but I don't know.

If anyone has a link to getting rid of the rattle, that'd be great! Mine went down quiet a bit with a heavier shift knob, btw.

its just the shifter bushing its the bushing on the very lower tip of the shifter and btw if you want a solid shifter without overly reduced shifts you can just turn your oem 2 pice shifter into a solid 1 pice shifter very similar to the nismo solid shifter but ya go buy a new bushing
