i can move the shifter an inch or more from left to right while it is in gear. it vibrates a good deal under acceleration as well. it hasnt given me any problems but it seems a little strange? is this normal or is there a way to tighten it up?

your bushings are just old and worn probably. if you get new ones, it should tighten up, but won't have that locked in feel that a short shifter can give you

ok thanks, but it wont cause it to pop out of gear or anything like that, correct?

and on the subject of short shifters - i was wanting to get one, but i will probably be doing either an sr or rb20 swap somtime in the future and was wondering if one that fit on a KA transmission would fit in one of the afformentioned motor's trannys?

it won't pop out of gear unless you pull it out of gear. weak bushings just add sloppiness to the shifter.

as far as the short shifter fitting the KA transmission and the SR or RB transmission, i doubt it. I know that the trannies are different, but I'm not certain if the shifters are interchangable. i'm gonna go on a limb and say no unless someone can correct me.

Where can you get new bushings? I had the same problem on my old FC3S and new bushings are def. a big improvement...
