shifter is stuck wont come out

put a new shifter bushing on slid it in seemed to fit fine, took it out around the block will only shift into 1st and 3d and will not pull out the top like it should. did this happen to any one else any ideas how to fix it with out pulling the trans. its an rb25 trans if that helps any one.
