shifter bushings problem...

hey guys so im in the process of changing the shifter bushings with bronze ones and ive removed all three bolts but the bottom ball part doesnt fit threw the plate so i cant take the shifter out.. and i cant fit the bushings in from the bottom it seems as if they need to be hammered in... what should i do??

It will pull out if everything is free so not sure what to tell ya. Don't hammer the bronze bushings in. Put them in the freezer until your ready to install and they should go in, if not a little grease should do it and if not still some emory cloth should shave enough off to fit them.

Sounds like you dont have a stock shifter to begin with, got a picture?

yes turns out its aftermarket and i had to unscrew it and pull it out from the bottom. i tried the freezer and grease technique but i still had to use a rubber mallet softly to get it in. and now it shifts perfectly!! thanks!

i never had trouble putting my Z1 bronze shifter bushings in
they just popped right in
infact, one side would fall out under its own weight!
I cant tell if thats supposed to happen or not because my shifter only had one bushing it seemed, and it was cracked in half so ive got no baseline to determine that with
