Shouldnt but dont do that all the time. BTW, its an automatic, put it in drive and go, no need to shift.Khaled wrote:Hi,
I was driving today and thought that I was at manual mode. I pressed on the gas paddle and then wanted to shift to the 2nd gear, but instead of that I shifted to N and then by mistake I shifted back to D while I'm still pressing on the gas.
I was just thinking, is this going to effect my transmission in the future? should I be worried about it?
Khaled.

That wasnt the question. He had shifted into nuetral while driving and was revving and still in the throttle when he was shifting back to drive, which would be called nuetral dropping. That is not good for the trans, the mounts, or the axles. Now if it was done by accident one time, then no worries, but if he starts doing that alot, I can guarantee he will be at the dealership with some issues.mcheddadi wrote:there is no problem with reving the car in N. anybody who thinks otherwise is just miss informed or ignorant
Luckily we have Myth Busters to do this for us!!! They tried this last season, maybe 2 seasons ago...the car has a special little mechinisum to not allow it to go into gear (on an Automatic). The same with Park I believe. They were trying it on late 90s cars or there abouts...link for your enjoyment.Kango wrote:I always wondered... like what dangeris did... is it possible to put it in reverse while traveling at highway speed like 70mph by accident? I've always been curious about this but never wanted to try for obvious reasons. ^^
