I have a 2008 Rogue with 66K miles. I have started to have multiple issues. My VDC light is coming on. The hydrolic lifts for tail gate/trunk (whatever it is called) are broken. Back will not stay up at all. Have had acceleration issues. Now, I stopped and put truck in park, but still running. Sat for about 10 minutes. I went to shift into drive and would not shift out of park. I finally lifted out the "shift lock" piece and pushed down on the button inside and it will shift. Each time I put into park, I have to do that again. Any ideas on what this could be?

I have had very poor luck with my service department. I had a stereo issue when I first bought and it took almost a year and a lot of fighting to get them to find out what it was and fix it. They finally found that the speakers not working was due to pins in door that had never been connected right from manufacture.

If anyone else is having multiple issues, please let me know and any idea what to do. This truck is only 2 years old, and yes, I know it has a lot of miles, we have made a trip from MO to TN in it and I drive an hour one way to work and back.

Sorry, if this is too long. New to the forum. Just very frustrated and afraid this is going to be a super expensive fix. (The replacement tail gate lifts that can ONLY come from Nissan are $350.00!)

Thanks.

It's unfortunate you've had all these issues. My Rogue has 63,000mi on the odometer and I have never experienced the issues you have.

Here is my best suggestion: Try a different Nissan dealer. You as a customer should demand better service!

shelcassb,

Did you ever get your issues repaired?

I just bought a used 2008 Rogue last month and the same thing is happening to me. I can't shift out of park. Did you get your problem fixed? I'm going to take mine in tomorrow and see what they have to say. The owners manual said it could be a low battery, but I'm unsure if they mean the car battery or the key fob battery.

I have an 08 with 32,000 miles and shift lock problem happened to me . The shifter was bad and was replaced by nissan. I was under warrenty and did not cost me anything. Best suggestion if you have 66 thousand miles on it get a new shifter or get one on ebay and have it installed. Im guessing this is a problem they have . But for a fact its a bad shifter. If you have an automatic sounds like the same problem I had .

As for your dealer, I went to a crappy nissan dealer in Miami named Bill Seidels Nissan. After a major issue with them I went to Maroone Nissan and could not be happier. Going from a Honda to a Nissan I noticed that nissan dealers dont have the customer service that other dealers do. ( not sure why they treat customers like this) , but look around for one that is good.

First off, let the dealer have a look at it. You are only 6K past the powertrain warranty and Nissan may extend it and cover the repair. It's worth a shot.

The shifter/gear selector is not something you would easily find on eBay. Try auto salvage yards, etc. There are 2 versions, one comes with the manual shift feature, the other does not.

Personally, I would let a dealer or good automotive repair shop handle this. Swapping the gear selector is a pretty involved job... not exactly DIY.
