My first post, im loving my 240 but this problem is worrying me...

First i have to say that yes i did do a good amount of searching to try and get the answer to this question, but the only responses were "the fuses might be loose or burned out" which is not the case with me..

So anyways this is the problem. I can start my car just fine but when i try to shift from P to D it wont let me press the button. I am keeping my foot on the brake the whole time so thats not the problem.. To get past this i have to press a button on the bottom front of the shifter to manually overide it and then i can change the gears out of P. I was told by friends that my automatic transmission fluid might be low but i was told by the guy who sold me the car that everything should be fine.. Anyone know whats going on?

I have an automatic 91 coupe with 99XXX miles

any help is aprreciated..thanks
