Check your owners manual. It's right there in black and white.

If the shift interlock fails to release the shift lever, you can insert your key into the lock to temporarily release the lever.

This is used in case you ever need to have your car towed, and you have no power. Your car can be put in neutral for towing, saving stress on your transmission. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, glad to have you here! I will try and send anyone looking for parts your way. Check through the last couple of threads, I saw one person looking for a cargo cover for his Murano in black.

I have run into this problem at our dealership. I am still waiting for Nissan to answer. I ordered 2 thinking that one may be boxed wrong (happens all the time), but had both come in the wrong color. Unfortunately Nissan does not always get back with us as quick as we would like. I will definately post as soon as I can get an answer.
