I have a 06 g35 sedan with automatic transmission. I am having trouble getting it to go out of park and into gear at times, sometimes it works sometimes it does not. From reading it appears to be the shift lock solenoid, when it is not working I do not hear the click.

Any thoughts on how to diagnose and how hard it is to replace it if it is the cause? Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to NICO! So when you're having trouble getting in or out of park, do you mean the act of pressing the shifter button and moving it? Sometimes I have to press my shifter a few times until I feel it release. Not a big enough issue for me...but yours may be worse.

You can try to look through the FSMs to see if there's a fix. Check out the link in my sig.

I know this isn't comparing apples to apples, but the same thing happened on my Camaro. It got so bad that I had to get my husband to get it out of Park for me. On my Camaro, it was a cheap and simple replacement. Didn't cost much more than $100. I would recommend you get it done before it gets bad.

joe603, thanks you for supplying the FSM. There are troubleshooting instructions for when you can not get your car out of park. I believe my case is the SHIFT LOCK RELAY CIRCUIT but I will go through the steps provided. I will let you know and thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
