Shift lock control unit issues

my shift lock control unit is not responding to the brake pedal. so i can't shift out of park without pressing the button.

it has happened intermittently before, but now it it is 24/7. i've also noticed that i have no brake lights. i've checked the brake switch and it's working.

i wanted to know if the shift lock control unit is known to go out and does it affect the brake lights.

either somethings up with the shift lock control unit or the brake switch circuit.

please help
