Shift Knob Trim Question

Does anyone know how the aluminum trip strip on the 07 Murano shift know is held in place? I noticed on mine it wiggles a bit and the top and bottom ends have a bit of "give" if you press them gently. Seems to be help in place by some kind of tabs. But I was wondering if it is glue and could accidentally come off with use. It really would have been bad design have to use glue, and I think I can see the tab inserts, but does anyone have some insight?
