I missed a shift today and my shift knob started rattling. Second gear is the gear i missed. The gear is still engaging perfectly but there is a rattle coming from the shift knob itself. Even when I turn the car off and shake the shift knob there is some rattling. Anyone have this problem or have any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks

When you say, "missed a shift," what do you mean? Shifted into a different gear? (Hard to miss 2nd).

Go ahead and remove the knob (it unscrews) and see if the shift lever itself is rattling. Until you pinpoint the location of the rattle, there's no point speculating.

I did a fast launch Bc I was at an intersection and when I shifted into 2nd it grinded so I just went to neutral rev matched and took off on 4th again normally. Soon a school that took place the rattling began. I will try that tomorrow afternoon. I have work in the morning.
