i originally had a momo chrome and black shift knob, 110 dollars, bad ***, loved it. That knob had three adjusting screws that would clamp the knob onto the shift lever, all good and dandy. The previous owner of my car, thought he would make himself a "custom" short shifter......out of the damn stock shift knob!!! So he cut the thread from the shift lever, the stock shift lever, so the clams on the momo knob would clam solid onto the lever, not the thread. So anyways, since i got the B&M short shifter, i love it by the way, its got threads on the lever so u can screw on a shift knob, well, i cant put on my old momo one, which im pissed about, and i dont like the knob it came with, looks like it would go on a camaro or something. But evertime i tighten those clams, it comes off when i shift hard, bcs its not grabbing to something solid, its grabbing to the threads. So now that u guys know whats going on, heres the friggin question...I love the way the R34 Skyline's shift knob looks like, i beleive its screw on, the new 350Z's shift knob too, anyone know if i can fit them on my threadded BM short shifter lever? Daunt??

i understand completely! I bought the B&M shifter and the know looks terrible. I think Enjuku sells the knob for 30 bucks, so maybe i can sell mine for 20, im sure some mustang driver on ebay will go nuts.

yea i know man, but the shifter is bad ***, i would never put the old one back in, does anyone know if the same "vibrating at redline" problem still occurs with the s13 sr motor? at what rpm is it? redline for the sr is 7200 i beleive, on ka it starts at around 5k, id hate for it to go from 5000-7200 rpm vibrating like that, its not much, but still.

try puting some silicon on the shaft in the area that the screws clamp down on the silicon should be enough to hold the screw to the shaft

I remember reading somewhere about a guy putting the b&m unit into his miata. He had a similar situation in that he already had a knob he liked (might have even been a momo) but it didn't fit. He had a special piece machined to fit over the threads and provide something for the knob to clamp onto. I gotta run now, but I'll try and get you a link when I get back.

thank you travis, that was very helpful, any good shift knobs u guys like? like the veilside or bltz or something? something screw on type, if i cant find one, then ill have to do something about those threads, but damn it, i will not drive around with a mustang or camaro interior (ok, slightly exaggerating, but thats how it feels with that huge *** ball of a shiftknob, ok, exaggerating but u get the point). thanks in advance

yall did try the stock nissan shift knob right? mine fit perfectly, so it opened the door for all of the NISMO knobs. Thats the one im picking up. check out http://www.japanparts.com for a full listing of NISMO shift knobs.

I know this doesn't exactly fit the situation, but my favorite knob that I have seen so far is the momo anatomico short. It's just a black leather short knob....keep that stock look but drop the knob height by 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. I just put the B&M unit into my car too so it looks like if I want that momo knob I'll be facing the same probs. BTW, how do you like the shifter? So far I love mine....nice short throws and, more impressively, very positive shifting. Each and every gear is in there like swimwear.

The shifter is one of the best investments ive made. Oh to be rid of my rowboat shifter. As long as the MOMO knob has an allen set screw to hold it in place, it shouldnt be a problem, but i want to again recommend the NISMO knobs, they fit perfectly.

greddy counterweighted knobs are:1-cool2-heavy3-screw on.A guy on ebay told be that the "type-r type" shift knobs come with threaded adapters that allow them to be screwed on to a few different cars, too.
