Need to replace the shift knob on our 97 Pathfinder...

Bought one of those ebay deals, with the adapter and the allen head set screws, and it lasted a day. Piece of crap.

So here's what I need: A carbon-fiber design, screw-on shift knob that doesn't cost a fortune... Any ideas?

what is wrong with the stock one? I've never had the urge to buy an aftermarket. P.S. the allen head screw types are very crappy and always break within a few days.

Stock one is ugly black rubber and doesn't go with the carbon-fiber interior kit.

Remember, it's the wife's car.

my friend sent me a ****ty one too. lol. but heres what i did.

i drilled it and tapped it (with a tap and die set). screws on and is all good now. :). 10mm 1.25 thread. as for the drilling you just drill with the bit thats a bit smaller than 10mm and then gradually go up in size with the drill bits. do this till you can get the tap to go in. :)

Nismo is way too much for a knob.

if your gonna get her a Nismo knob, get the goofy looking white one that Alan dubbed the dildo knob.

some set screw ones work well, thats what ive had for 6 months and never came loose on my or broke.

also, it has a small plastic "cap" that fit on top of the screw part of the shifter to keep the top from pushing back and fourth when you shift.

I have a Razo knob that I paid $16 on ebay but it did not come with the adapter I needed so I sent razo USA an email and they sent me the adapter I needed. I just told them that I purchased a Razo shift knob and it did not come with the adapter could they please send me one. I never mention that I bought it used. Anyway the adapters do screw in, normal screw not allen head, but they only have a small screw to hold the adpater down to the knob. The adapters have fins that go into groves in the shift knob which holds the presure when you spin the knob on. Anyways the Razo's are about $35 on ebay and I have had good experiances dealing with them.

i have a shift knob, but it looks like something the prev. owner made in shop class. its comfy and feels smooth, but does not screw on or have a set screw. right now i have some sealant goop in there to keep it from rattling, but every time i slam shift, it pops off. is there a way to set this thing in there all nice without having to redo it every week? can i just get a gasket of some sort and put it on there, make a new one in shop class and have it the right size, then tap it. or buy one for 60 bux when i could've spent that 60 on my part of my paint job.
