The local Orillia Nissan dealer, Experience Nissan, has informed me that I need to replace the solenoid control valve assembly, according to TSB01-0155.

I'm hoping to do this myself since they want a pretty penny to replace the unit. I've worked on Chevrolet trannies years ago, but never a Pathfinder Trany, and have actually had little exposure to Nissan transmissions as far as internals go.

Anyway when looking at the FSM pg. AT-265 it outlines removing the control valve assembly. However I'm a little unclear as it mentions the valves are attached to the solenoids. Will they come out as one entire unit? How are these valves attached? Is there any special sealing required etc?

I also mentions in the FSM that the accumulator may need to be removed, which appear to essentially be 4 pistons. Will these also need to be replaced to rectify the shift flare issue?

Tech's could really use your help on this one.

The solenoid assy part number according to the TSB is 31940-41X15.

They also mentioned that the TCM may need to be replaced, but that is an under hood item according to the FSM so I'm not all that worried about it if I do need to replace it.

Have there not been any other instances of this issue with members of the board?

I dont think anyone on this board has this problem..... I assume you have already followed the outline yourself on the TSB to verify... They (the nissan dealer) want to replace the shift solenoinds...?

The valve body has 2 parts, an upper and a lower part, which really you could just say its one unit and theres a front/back or top/bottom whichever you look at it....... The shift solenoids are on the top part, you will need to drop the valve body.. ITs not terribly hard, but there are 2 lengths fo bolts and you need to be sure you dont confues them...... SOme of the harness connectors can be hard to get apart but its not bad...

the part number listed is for the 4 solenoids, shift solenoid A/B, overrun clutch, and line pressure. The kit that you listed includes the necessary O rings.

If you need the pages from the manual LMK.

Welcome to NICO!!

Thanks for the reply.

I'm just waiting for my driveway to be paved so that I have a more comfortable place to work... gravel sucks...

Also I was looking for the location of the TCM. The service manual says it's under the hood but I haven't been able to locate it. Perhaps I'm not looking properly...

Cheers
