Ok i havnt done it yet but i seen it on the other 240 board an i really wanna try it . But heres what the guy said to do. An oh yeah this trick is for the s13 but prolly will work on the s14....

Shifting Faster With an Auto A Cheap (NO COST) Meathod For a Pseudo-Shift Kit in 2 easy steps!!!! ;)

1- Locate the resistor (official name unknown) mounted over left front wheel well by the edge of the engine bay. It is a grey socket with some wires attached, right next to the airbox.

2- Detach! Press tab and slide it right out of the socket, and tuck the loose end underneath the socket.

Voila!

I assure you there is absolutely no downside to this trick at all.. Everything has a tradeoff, and in this case of us it is a positive one. The unit's purpose is to regulate the transmission fluid pressure, to soften the shifting for comfort purposes... We however differ from the general public and delight in the feel of sport and performance..

Before you do it:

I suggest driving down the road to the nearest gas station, really paying attention to just how soft and unexcitingly the automatic transmission shifts, how much lag there is shifting between gears... Focus on it it now, for things are about to change...

Pull into the gas station, pop your hood, and disconnect the socket as shown: "Plink!"

Get back into the vehicle, depress brake and move shifter into Drive.. Immediately notice and feel the "Thump" as the car drops into gear...This is about to feel GOOD... :) Pull back out onto road and accelerate as usual... Anticipate each shift, and savor the total lack of lag... relish in the immediate engaging of each gear, sharply and crisply... The slight head-jerk with each exciting upshift...

Its a whole new world, for those previously bored to death with their comfy automatic trannys... Enjoy the Ride

that doesn't matter, Auto's and manuals are alot more alike than you think. Most come with the same parts, or compartments for parts or wiring even if it is not needed on one of the models. (There is alot of stuff that is there that is for the other models). Best way to check is to do it. Second best way is to find a FSM and find out if the function of this "grey box" is what they say it is.

It's been discussed here before. I believe the conclusion was that it only shifts harder, not actually faster--causing undo wear and not improving speed. =\

actually it does make a difference, when i had my auto i took it off and it took a subtancial about of time off my slip. but it will destroy a transmission after a while, when it was plugged in i always had the problem when it shifted into second when it was wet and it always lost control, even when i wasnt trying to drive hard. and when i unplugged it i would never drive in rain because it lost it in 3rd. but i had a transmission built by a racing friend of mine that i knew.

How much harder does it shift without that resistor-thing? Mine already shifts pretty rough as it is...compared to a Maxima. When it shifts it feels like it lunges forward. Kinda fun when at a red light. My transmission isn't on its last leg is it??

the extra shock on the driveline will eventualy cause un-needed wear and destruction. i wouldnt do it to my car.
