Shift Error - PLEASE HELP

I own an infiniti G37s and I got home tonight and put it in park and shut the car off. My dash starts to beep at me and flashes the shift light telling me to put it in park. The car is in park and turned off and does start back up just fine. Just when I shut it off it doesnt seem to think it is in park. What could be causing this and is there an easy way to fix it. Please help it is just beeping at me!

I dont know anything about G37's, hopefully someone more knowledgeable chimes in. Possibly something along the lines of a neutral safety switch

I dont think it would start if this were the case do you think?

you say g37.hhhhmmm.. g37 = warranty = dealership. Get there and have them check it out asap!

I know I am plannin on taking it in in the morning, but it does already have 77000 on it so i am not sure what is still covered under it and just trying to figure out if this is a major problem or not.

Try disconect the battery and connect it back. Also you can Try to play with the shifter a little to see if it goes back. It is easy to disassemble it. You might want to try it.
