I just picked up an 07 g35x to replace my 06, its infiniti certified pre owned 46k. It seems to be having an issue at low speed where the rpms flutter and it doesn't know what gear to go into. Myold one had similar problems, is this a common error with infiniti or am i cursed. Another problem, in triptronic when I shift into third under spirited driving conditions it has a tedency to hit hard. Anyone having similar problems, I took it to the dealer already, said they couldn't find any issues, obviously.. ...G

I think there is an ECU flash they can do for the RPM issue. I would take the car for a drive with a dealer tech in the passenger seat and show them the problem.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have asked the same question on the EX35 forum regarding my RWD EX35...
Hard / clunk / thump when driving 'spirited' and manual shifting to 3rd in DS mode.
(here is my thread) manual-shifting-ds-mode-under-hard-acce ... 49647.html
anyway - the first dealer I checked with said this is 'normal' HA! and there is no remedy. again, HA!

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if anyone has had this resolved?

5speed...

Thanks!!!

I took her to the dealer to check out the shift from 2nd to 3rd in Manual mode... so the story goes like this... All of our cars with the newest 5speed have this harsh shift from 2nd to 3rd in manual mode. EX35, G35 both for sure.
The dealer checked the codes - all ok. checked the fluid level and color - both OK. took it for a drive and said, yes - I feel what you are describing.
we took another one out from the used lot - the same characteristics. A 2008 G35.... the same...

so - although I think it is a little strange to have 3rd feel completely different depending on the acceleration, I feel better knowing that 'this is just the way they are'.

In manual mode I wish I had a 1-2 shift like the 2-3 which is firm and fast.

The issue I always note with my 5AT is when running in DS mode and manually downshifting it hates a 2-1 downshift going around a tight corner, even if RPMs are optimal. It will think about it for up to a second before shifting. I showed it to my local service department who reported it to Corp and there is no fix. <sigh>

Once I finally accepted that the 2-3 shift is normal, I agree about the 1-2 shift. It does seem to draaaaag on for a second or two while 2-3 is pretty immediate. (2-3 in the Infiniti reminds me of driving a stick shift and doing a quick-shift from 1-2 the more I think about it.)

Thank you for replying too. Even though I experienced it myself in a couple cars, I was still a little concerned since I could'nt get any other drivers to really chime in about it. In the EX35 forum, there are hardly any that drive this puppy like it yearns to be driven.

I drove the piss out of the EX when I did our road test/review article. Unfortunately, I have not been in one since to determine if it has the 1-2 shift issue. I should be able to get that all worked out when I take my car for a tune sometime this year.
