If you have the valve cover off its on compression when neither valve is being opened, If you have the valve cover on and you got a DE just look through the oil filler hole and you should be able to see the exhaust cam lobe pointing sideways away from the engine then you just pull the distributer out and set the rotor to #1 (put it in with the cap off and note how it rotates as the gear meshes with the ?cam?SlidnSideways wrote:How do you know if its the compression stroke or not? i checked timing yesterday because i have the same problem and everything looked to be ok but i dont know how to be sure its compression stroke or not
