My friend was in a serious accident the beginning of August. She does not remember it. She does remember, however, hearing someone say, "this one's dead" and she basically said "F you" and passed back out. She spent two weeks in the ICU. She had a concussion, she fractured her back, and has a huge hole in her leg. She is still in a lot of pain but she can walk and all of her injuries will heal with time. She shared her story with me, and the picture, and told me I could share both with everyone here. As you can see, the car is demolished but she was basically cocooned by the driver's side air bags. She didn't have a single scratch on her head or face. She said her seat wasn't damaged either. Despite her injuries, she calls this a success story for Nissan. She says she feels very lucky and that she is thankful she was in this car. She never believed that an economy car could protect her so well in such a violent crash, no one else at the scene seemed to think so either.

Unfortunately, no longer a Nissan or Infiniti, but continuing here at NICO!

Eek!

She is lucky the impact was on the passenger side ... a hit like this on the other side would definitely have been fatal.

Glad to hear your friend survived this.

Yowza!
Do you know any details of the accident? How fast the person was going that hit her, and what they were driving? What kind of Nissan is that anyway?

Damn, that car is smashed up!
How is her rehab going? Is/will she be walking?

I think that was a Versa. I feel for her. The worst is the next 3 months. The rest is just re-learning everything. In truth the depression is the hardest thing to deal with.

I wouldn't say "she walked away" either. Sounds more like she was unconscious and got carted away, and will walk some day.

Ha! I thought the same thing. She's certainly lucky and we're all glad she survived, but without understanding any of the circumstances, it's impossible to know if being in a Nissan helped her or made it worse.

Sorry guys, I've been busy. That's a first gen Versa. I didn't get a lot of details as she is still in recovery. She was hit in an intersection. She doesn't remember anything other than hearing someone say was dead, she woke up long enough to speak to them (F*** you, I'm not dead) and passed back out. She is walking, it just hurts like hell where she broke her back. It's gonna be a recovery, for sure. As horrid as the car looks - and the undeniable fact that if there had been passengers, they would have died - she feels very lucky.

That's good news that anyone could be alive after leaving something that looks like that... but I wanna hear what the other driver was doing that made it all happen? Too soon?

Without the back story, I would have definitely said anyone in that vehicle would be dead. She is pretty lucky and good for her for basically flipping the bird to the ones that thought she was gone. She will have a long recovery road ahead, but she is here. That's the important thing.

I don't know. She isn't online much but I'll let you know as soon as I hear anymore details.

She's tough and it runs in her family. She was in TX when this happened. She lives in upper east TN. Her mom is in her 70s and has been battling cancer. She got on a plane, flew to TX, stayed there with my friend until she was well enough to travel, rented a car and DROVE her home (due to her injuries, flying was not an option). 1000 miles. That's a couple of badass women I am happy to call friends / family. :yesnod

Oh my God! the main thing, of course, is that your friend unharmed. But the car...no words... it's horrifying
