Thanks man. I wouldn’t say that the AEM is really easy to work on, but its not impossible either. Its something that you really need to do your reading on, get experience with and learn in steps... Definitely not something that you can just pick up and learn how to do. Its a standalone with a TON of capability, but that variety of options also makes it a somewhat complicated thing to learn how to use well. I love it though. Even after my car is built and done, learning this EMS (and my engine!), tweaking this and that will certainly keep me happily busy for a long time.
EDIT: just re reading what I wrote... the menus, graphs, wizards all that that the EMS comes with are VERY nice. I dont mean to sound like the software itself is difficult- AEM did a very good job of making most of the software pretty intuitive... it just takes a long time to know how to use all of its capabilities if you know what I mean. Hooking up the EMS is of course cake, and the startup maps that come with the unit are also pretty nice. My car is running on the startup map now, with some VERY minimal modifications. ...All I had trouble with was synching the timing up and stuff which, honestly, shouldnt have been that big a deal had I read the instructions more carefully when I first got the unit.
