G paint is extremely sensitive-- the most scratch NON-resistant of any car I've owned, and there have been many threads here and on other forums about this. To reduce the risk of a scratch further, you can also use fishing line to gently "cut" the lettering away in the same manner as described above (with the blow dryer to heat up the glue).

Good luck!

Back in the ealy 70's my buddy had a 1969 bright red AMC AMX. The factory had put chrome AMX letters on the vehicle. He was a commercial graphic artist and replaced the chrome letters with quality white stick on letters. It was a huge improvement.

On my red G I was thinking of dumping the chrome lettering on the rear for black stick ons.

LOL.. If AMC built the G35 instead of Nissan they could have called it AM-G

Just before i installed my skyline emblems i removed all the decals. I have to admit i was hesitant to put anything back on it did look awsome. They came off really easy with a blow dryer and a plastic body scraper. 3M makes a really handy little wheel that takes off sticky residue. Its kinda like a spinning eraser it worked awsome. Just dont burn the paint!

ok well I live in an apartment and don't have a portable hair dryer (if they even make one) so I used the fishing line...get some line that's about 10lb or higher rated just so you know it won't break....then all you have to do is hold it like dental floss and work your way behind each letter....I never used that 3M rubbing wheel but it sounds like a good idea because I used my fingers to get the residue off and that sucked....when I was done with that I used rubbing compound to make sure it was all of and I strongly recommend using it....when I put on the rubbing compound I was actually able to see the whole "infiniti" and the "G35" until I rubbed it all off...then get a wax on the car for the paint protection...good luck

did anyone run into problems where the paint would be a different shade then the rest of the area? I would assume the paint would fade over time but if you take the emblems off, wouldnt the paint behind the emblems be a different shade than the rest? that is the only thing thats stopping me from shaving the emblems off my car. but heres another thought... what do you guys think about painting the emblems to a black chrome color?

That would only occur after a LONG time frame. For instance, my 99 Dakota - I took the lettering off the side/back with a blow dryer about a year 1/2 ago (it was about 7 years old then) and used some Goo Gone to remove sticky residue after it was all off - no fading or oxidation present. Your G should be fine!

Painting the emblems is an interesting idea, actually. If you can find a professional to do it, I say go for it. Would look awesome!

I've seen some pictures of blacked out emblems on other forums and from the pictures, its hard to tell the difference, but recently I've been thinking about going on a blacked out theme on my car. Its diamond graphite color, and I'm maybe considering smoking out the head/tail lights, the corner lights, and painting my rims black. Any thoughts?

In theory it sounds kinda cool, but I don't think it'd be very practical on a DG color G. Maybe if it was a black or even white.

Of course, that's my opinion.
