Whoa, .030 is a lot, isnt' it? The FSM probably allows .010 max or thereabouts. I mean, if it was warped, they won't be taking .030 off the entire thing, just where it's high. But if the head now sits flat on the block, what about the other side...the side with the cams? That face *might* not be flat after they're done. The camshaft is straight and the bearings have roughly .002" clearance. If the head's not straight, the cams won't turn at all when you bolt the bearings down. Before you put the chain back on, drop the pistons down to get some clearance and make sure the camshafts rotate smoothly.
