I have a sirius satellite radio and im thinking of getting a shark fin to use as the antennae since the sirius one look horrible on the outside of the car. anyone tried this? also do you think it will get better reception then the stock am/fm antennae?

Okay, I'm slightly confused by this question...You're referring to the BMW-style fin satellite radio antenna like this, right? Sirius antenna doesn't replace AM/FM antenna. It's separate. Replacing the sirius antenna will have no bearing on AM/FM radio whatsoever. Satellite radio is entirely different. It uses it's own antenna, AM and FM use their own antennas. Changes to one won't affect the others.Unless something is seriously wrong, though, your sirius radio should get MUCH better (clearer) reception than AM/FM does.

Also, just a niggle, "antennae" is plural. If you want to get super-technical, it is specifically biological plural, such as when talking about bugs. With cars and things you still say "antennas" for more than one. Antenna is singular.

Hmmm...I'm not sure an antenna that small could provide decent AM reception.Nissan FM antennas are in the rear window anyway, so you can just keep the stock one connected and you'll be fine for FM.

Make sure it's designed for Nissan cars. If not it'll have the wrong connectors, Nissan does things strange.

I have an unpainted 5series shark fin if you want it. I bought it off ebay, because i wanted to wire my Avic D-3 antenna under it. But from my understanding the Gps antenna works even from the glove box or I'll just have it sitting under the windshied, drilling holes into my roof was a little bit too much of an effort.

this is how it looks like. I would post my own pictures, but I'm in europe at the time. I don't know how big the sirius antenna is. I might get someone to take measurements off it and could let you know. My antenna is an OEM BMW one.
