I have a JVC HD radio with the Shark Attack II antenna. I noticed today that my HD signal doesn't stay locked. The antenna came with an extension and power cable. Would running power to the antenna boost the signal?

Is there a power source in the trunk that I could tap into? I would rather not have to run the extension cable and power cable all the way to the front if I don't have to.

Thanks

Is the antenna meant to have power to it?

If not don't eeven try it

Considering it comes with a power wire attached to the antenna extension cable I would guess it takes power.

What power runs to the antenna normally? Would I be able to tap into the power that normally goes to the rear speaker amp?

If there is a power wire on the antenna then you need to hook one up to it.

You need a constant power source. So the speakers wouldn't work

Okay, well would the stock amp power work? Since I have an aftermarket head unit I'm not using the stock amp anymore. I'm trying to avoid running wires all over my car if I don't have to.

If I do have too, then I might as well run new/better speaker wire, power cables and everything else needed for an amp/sub at the same time, so I'll just wait until a later time to do it then.

Thanks

I have that JVC HD radio. HD signal will go back and forth from digital to analog if the signal strength is weak. The HD broadcast area is smaller than the FM broadcast area. You can force the radio to tune analog only or HD only if you want to. I am not familiar with the antenna you're talking about so I can not comment on its performance or lack thereof. http://www.hdradiouniversity.com/

Well, once it get warmer outside (maybe tomorrow, but definitely on Saturday) I'm going run power to the antenna one way or another and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then I'll just go back to listening to my ipod all the time. There are a lot of HD stations in t he area surprisingly. But it just seems like the radio doesn't want to keep HD locked in. I'll update once I run power though.

Thanks

i have this same antenna on my 97 s14, and the "power source plug" doesn't plug into the oem one. is there anyway of fixing this?

maybe buying an adapter that'd fit the shark power source plug into the oem one?

i e-mailed the guy about it and he didn't give me any help he just said it fits and it clearly doesn't so.

the shark power source plug is larger, then the oem one so it doesn't fit
