Quote »I wouldn't mention it, except that Olbermann savages anyone who didn't go to an impressive college. As it happens, he didn't go to an impressive college, either.[/quote]I always wondered how anyone can go from primarily sports reporting to politics. Olbermann just didn't seem like the type from the beginning.

Guess he was a fraud all along.

Olbermann probably put a Lexus badge on his Yaris. "I DRIVE A LEXUS! I WORKED HARD FOR IT."

It seems a lot of blowhard media types and people in charge lie. The CEO of Radio Shack made up degrees he never earned or even attempted.

I don't understand how you get that far without expecting to be scrutinized and examined, especially if your job involves pissing people off for a living.

It would be better if he didn't lie about himself. Not sure if he lied to get his job but to lie to everyone else after he got it seems so pretentious. It might be his ego that doesn't fit well with others. He looks like he would be happier in a Prius.

Keith Olbermann went to Cornell University. He went to the Agriculture School and studied Telecommunications. So even though he didnt go to the same campus as Coulter and take the same classes that does not mean he didn't attend Cornell. It would be like looking down on Heliochrome because he really didnt go to the Indiana University (Bloomington) and the Purdue University (West Lafayette). He went to IUPUI, but if you check his degrees they say Indiana University and Purdue University. And there is no need to look down on his education, because he went to school in Indianapolis and not Bloomington or West Lafayette.

What is sad about this story is that Olbermann carried in his degree to show everyone on MSNBC to prove he was not a liar. Give me a break, if you are that insecure about this maybe you shouldnt be running around proclaiming you went to an Ivy League school and then freak out when someone calls you on it.

It's like saying he went to an Ivy League school when he really went to Ivy Tech.

In Jeffersonville they had Prosser or some sort of vocational school. They still graduate from Jeffersonville but they might of took welding classes instead of honors English.

I would like to see what type of articles he wrote while at Cornell. I think it's great that a guy like him can make the transition from sports to political opinion but it is very rare.

Sort of like Howard Cosell making commentary on Carter for boycotting the Russian Olympics. Just doesn't seem right.

I have to disagree, becuase Ivy Tech is a vocational school and has no part of its campuses associated with an Ivy League School.

It would be tat amount to me attending IUSB (Indiana University South Bend) in business and claiming to have graduated from Indiana University and implying that I went to the Kelly School of Business. My degree would say Indiana University and I did study Business, but I would not have graduated from Kelly School of Business, though.

That's not the issue. The issue is whether or not Cornell Ag is an Ivy League School and in the most technical sense, its not. Its a statutory school that is part of Cornell University but receives significant state funding and has some policies dictated to it by SUNY (State University of New York). State funded? Policies administered by a state school? Doesn't sound very Ivy League to me. Regardless of how its classified there should be no doubt that the college experience Olbermann had was most likely not an Ivy League experience in the same vein as someone actually attending Cornell University proper, and that's what is the real root of the issue or at least it should be.

Not really, those are all state funded schools and part of the same educational system. IUB, IUSB, IUK, and even Oooey Pooey are all part of the same educational organization. Pooey is a little different since its a cooperative effort with Peeee-Eeeew. I would offer the same observation that while Helio's paperwork may say Indiana University the experience he had attending IUPUI was significantly different than someone going to IUB. A more accurate comparison would be to say that Olberman didn't go to an Ivy League School and Helio didn't go to a Big Ten campus.*

I agree 100%. And while Olbermann was not "lying" he's been more than a little deceptive. I guess I should be thankful that he's not debating the meaning of the word "is" or something equally ludicrous.

* Helio, my intention is not to be disparaging in any way to what school you attended, I apologize if its perceived that way.

I went to U of L and played football there.

I have been to so many schools that I can make fun of my education. I am glad that Keith didn't pay that much for his degree but to parade it around like that is pitiful.

And this is the major point of this sad, sad affair. Coulter would have not fodder if he wasn't prideful of his Ivy League degree and humiliate others for not having one. So when he is called on the table for not having one, he goes ballistic. Sad, Sad, Sad. Most people (well adjusted) that have accomplished something pretty incredible, don't feel the need brag or talk about what they did incessantly.

This would be like if one went to U of M in Dearborn or Flint, but saying they're a Michigan man, implying that they went to U of M in Ann Arbor, the U of M people know. Sure, they went to Michigan, but they didn't go to Michigan.

This would also be like people in Wisconsin who go to the several satellite UW schools and claiming to have gone to Wisconsin in Madison.

Does anyone know where I can go to see Olbermann's rebuttal? I would love to see him try to defend this.

Also, I'm kinda too young to remember Olbermann on ESPN. I remember Dan Patrick and Stuart Scott, but not Keith. I watched the Super Bowl this year (didn't watch it last year) and saw Keith working it and I said this would be like Bill O'Reily doing the World Series.

No, he suffers from the non-PC portion of his environment which we need to fix. Pot is the answer.
