hey ive got a 92' 240sx w\ 92k on the odom, this is not a miss print. i recently seafoamed it, got new plugs and wires, etc... Its been running like new. its been awesome. well as a reward to the car i disconnected the battery and Gunked the entire engine compartment with 2 cans of Gunk and scrubbed it down with a tooth brush and then heavily rinsed it with water. and i mean heavily rinsed it! then i wrapped all the wires in new yellow wire loom. HERES THE PROBLEM... i let it dry and then replaced the battery. now the engine is stalling and or really shaky when im starting off from first gear, also when using the clutch and shifting, and also when i step on the pedal it shakes a little and has a delay before the speed kicks in. now besides dowsing the engine with water, when i was putting on the loom i wiggled an injector wire and heard a little crack. now what do you think is the problem? is there water in the engine from my rinsing it or did i crack the injector wire. as a note, i once had a bad spark plug and drove with it and it wasnt as bad as the car is now so i dont think it was the wire, it feel soft and flexible i think the crack came from the black tube that is around the two wires. please any ideas? water in the engine? what do i do? will seafoam dry the engine? thanks for your time! OH i have a race on the 16th so i really need to get this car running soon!

You could have unplugged a vacuum line. It wouldn't have been associated with the battery.

The crack was probably just the old wire loom. I wouldn't worry about that right now, although if nothing else works, keep it in mind.

Now... did you cover up the distributor when you washed the car down? It sounds like a distributor problem, but I'm not even near sure. I say no to distributors. 4 coils = :)

get in there with compressed air and blow out every electrical connector. Also you likely have water pooled around the plugs, blowdry those too.

wow, no i didnt cover the distributor. how do you do a 4-coil mod, not that its the problem but that sounds great. anyhow, what would be going on with the distributor, would i need to replace it? or it just needs to dry out? im racing on the 16th so i need to get this figured out.

Pop it off and blow it out. If it's chalky on the contacts inside replace it and the rotor, Do not scrape it off!

I experienced the exact same driving problems after cleaning my engine. Turned out I had standing water surrounding the plugs.

New plugs (needed them anyway) and a little dry-up know how and the car is running great.

By the way, mine is a 91 with 91K.

It happen to me like month ago. I found out that I got water in sparkplug cap and had to dry it out and runs fine now.
