Hey guys, i need some help with this problem I am having about a month now. I started to feel the front of the car shaking when I reach between 65 - 80km. I thought the rotor was warped so I changed the front rotor today and the pads but I am still feeling the shaking.
I am now at a blank so any information is greatly appreciated. :frown: :frown: :tisk: :tisk:

Check the balance of your tires and/or do a visual inspection of front end steering and suspension components. Check for play in your wheels while they are up in the air.

ok, the tires are new, just change them with a new set of rims as well. But I am going to have them check on the other components. i am planning on getting a new suspension as well but I need to eliminate this problem first

I am assuming you are feeling a shake in your steering wheel, and not in the seats. To eliminate the front wheels/tires as a cause of steering wheel shake, rotate the rear tires/wheels to the front & see if it goes away.

I feel it both in the steering and when nobody is in the passenger seat it shakes as well. But I will do a tire rotation to see if this helps

Thanks

Have the balance checked. I remember buying a set of Dunlops for my old Integra auto-x'er and having them installed at a "budget" tire shop, and feeling like the steering rack was about to explode whenever I hit 50. I took them to a pro shop and found they were BADLY balanced. The second shop balanced the entire set and they were smooth as butter.

Do that before you rotate them, otherwise you're just pushing the problem to a different set of components, which WILL put stress on brakes, bushings, bearings, etc.

I would re-do the balance first along with a compete 4-wheel alignment. If that doesn't have any affect on the shaking, next comes steering components, struts, wheel bearings, etc.

Did the new wheels come with hubcentric rings?

If you are saying that your car is shaking when you apply the brakes and not just when you are driving normally, and the steering wheel is not switching back and forth in your hand, then it is your caliper slider pins for the front calipers. The pins have a rubber sleeve on them that expands and causes the pin to seize. Take your caliper pins out, remove the rubber sleeve, re-grease them, and re-install. I guarantee the issue will go away.

I'm having a similar problem lately when driving at speeds of around 40 mph on some roads. The problem is mostly felt when decelerating to these speeds at low RPM. Front brakes are new and front tires were just balanced /inspected. Braking doesn't seem to be the problem causing the shaking. Can bad alignment cause shaking?

I had the same problem twice (vibration at 60), each time it was a seized rear caliper, replaced both, back to smooth as butter.

That's the thing. People slap new pads on and don't really inspect the old pads. They should be evenly worn. If you have one way more thin than the other, there is a caliper issue
