shaking and idle's low...

Well..my 90 240sx is shaking when its idle. plus when it is at idle the rpm's is at like 100-300 which is really low. and today when i stopped at a red light the car shook alot and rpms at 100 and then it died on me. The battery light is on in my dash so i probably need a new alternator cuz the belts were fine when i checked. If i changed the oil, new alternator, and maybe battery and spark plugs..should this solve my problem? :help

how is it on the freeway? does it feel sluggish when you drive?

is it automatic or stick?

i am having the same problem with my 90 240sx but my battery light is not on and my rpms go down to 500 and it feels like it's going to stall when i take off!!

Is this problem only at idle ? when you rev it up and hold it at 800 rpm or so does it smooth out ?Did this happen just at once or progressively get worse?When is the last time you changed your gas filter? ( on the inside passenger fender )Did you try to adjust the idle screw?

yea me and my dad are adjusting the idle screw but it doesn't seem to work...it'll work when we adjust it but when i go drive it will go to like 500 in idle. i didn't change the gas filter...i just bought the car 1-2 months ago. this happens all the time now...

check the reeds of the aiv. Another possible explaination is this. Check your - terminal on your battery and the terminal. Is it coated yellow and the wire gone down thinner to about 8ga? If so, could also be your ground. My light didnt turn on, had horrible idle, I changed my terminal and cut back the - wire a bit and smoothed it out a bit more. I've yet to get off my lazy butt and get to cleaning the reeds of the aiv. If your IAC isn't operating, that is another possible culprit. I'd check out the other stuff to see if it fixes it (since they're cheaper) and if not, I'd have the IAC checked out.
