shaking after start up

Been having this problem lately where when I start up my car the engine along with the gear shifter shake a lot. The my tach stays steady and the problem seems to disappear after about a minute of driving and runs perfectly after this, any ideas on what could cause this, its been happening on and off.

Does it happen when you shut the car off, too?

I'm guessing knock sensor.

my car does that too, im guessing its the motor/transmission mounts, mines intermittent, not just at start up. and when im on the freeway, the shifter goes up and down with the bumbs in the road, its prolly bout to fall out, o well...time for a sr20

no it does happen after I turn it off, it only seems to happen after starting it up after its been off for a bit. starting it right after turning it off and the shaking doesn't happen. I was thinking knock sensor too but it doesn't happen after I shut my car off.

Hmm. What does your car idle at when it's cold?1200 rpm or so?Maybe it's running too lean on startup. Sorry to be so vague, but it's a wierd thing to diagnose.

yah it idles at about 1200 rpm

you should try to check the spark plug wires........ start your engine, then pull 1 by 1, make sure the you place it back before pulling another out.......... under normal condition..... your engine will sounds like dying after pull 1 of the wire out........if there is nothing happen (still shaking like it use to)......that mean that wire is dead.......find a way to replace it man........... 1 set of spark plug wire is about 70 bucks.........

hmmmm....yeah mine does that too. like when its been in the garage for a couple days. but it doesnt do it everytime its been sitting just like everyother time or so. ill have to check that out too.

this is happening with my car rite now too. i've had the problem before and it was one of my spark plugs. the gasket was leaking and the plug was fouled by oil. just putting in a new plug fixed it for awhile, until the oil got to it of course. so i changed the valve cover gasket and the inner one going around the spark plugs to fix the leak. then i changed the spark plugs. the problem was solved. now my car is doing the same thing but all 4 spark plugs are still good. tomorrow i'm gonna do like cylynia said and check the wires.

alrite........ good news and bad for you ballr858...... after you check the like the way i did........... you'll know which cylinder or chamber got problem.......... let me list down all the posibility that might be the problem

1) spark plugs2) spark plug wires3) fuel injectors ( that is mine.....i had injector no. 1 changed for $185)4) piston ( you dont want that............. but if your exzos is coming out extensive black smoke........... that is pistol)
