The new Tacoma's for 05 are pretty sweet looking, with more power and towing capabilities. They still have the 2.7L but with 164hp and 183 ft-lb of torque, while the new 4.0L V6 has 245 hp.....the V6 with towing package can now two 6500 lbs over the 5000 lbs of last year.

Anyone wanna loan me mone, so I can trade in my current Taco for a new one???

Not a fan of Toyota trucks -- my opinion is unrelated to quality or performance. I hate the styling. We have a Lexus LX470 in the garage that is a rolling eyesore, despite what suburbanites like my parents may think.

Check out the 2005 Frontier... 250+hp 270+ lbs or torque, looks like the smaller version of the Titan, shares the same chassis

I think it might change your mind

I'd rather have my NA motor making about the same HP as a SC motor, then when you supercharge that Toyota motor...watch out. When I was looking at trucks...the Toyota's just seemed beefier to me.

I like the old Tacoma. The new one is too... cartoonish.

I think Toyota needs to take some lessons on styling. The last decent looking car they made was the Supra. All thier new stuff is just ugly ugly ugly!

Toyota trucks are unbeatable reliability wise (at least the early 90's ones). Anyone see that vid where they put one on top of an apartment building, blew up the apartment building, and when they cleared the rubble and took out the truck... it still ran and moved under its own power...

I find Toyota styling not offensive, but somewhat bland. It seems that they reserve "ugly" for the Scion brand (though the tC is OK). It's a damn shame Toyota killed off the MR2.

Anyway, is the X Runner supposed to be in the vein of the Lightning or SRT-10? If so, it seems to be a little low on power. I was just reading that Chris Rado (local guy!) is going to use an X Runner as a drift vehicle, which should certainly be interesting.

My '97 tacoma (before the infamous styling facelifts that have left Tacoma looking like a fish with it's mouth open) is a good daily commute/parts mover. I really like it, and it's been for the most part, trouble free. Mine is modded to high heaven, but you can't really tell, so i'm happy with it.

I live in the city of Tacoma and remember when these trucks first came out. '95 i think, so, late '94. It was like a big deal here.

The real barn burner will be the '05 Xterra!!
