Im rebuilding my engine, while im waiting for some parts to get here I got bored and im painting my manifold

I took these pictures for reference for reassemblyThese pictures may be useful to some of you, i donno

I disassembled the manifold. All hoses sensors tubes and harnesses.

I got Zinc-chromate primer for the aluminum. It's yellow and it sticks well

First coat of Duplicolor high heat black

Done!

I decided to paint the pipes aswell.GOt a wire brush and brake cleaner to clean them upgave them a light coat of the zinc primer. Then 2 more coats with the standard duplicolor primer sealerThen 3 coats of duplicolor blue high heat

This is where I am now

I feel let down, I thought you were actually building an intake manifold.... not just paintings one. Granted it looks much better minus the baby blue.

I couldnt agree more.

here i was thinking we would see some awesome custom work ala ITB everybody but instead its just a painted intake.

thats beautiful. just beautiful. im about to paint my valve cover, intake manifold, brackets, etc to make my bay look better. just havin problems finding hot pink high temp paint locally. probably going to just settle with the metallic blue ive been finding.

hahaha glad some of you like it. I guess the title is a little misleading..didnt think of that.

If you plan on using the duplicolor metalcast, think twice. It doesnt like sticking to metal

really? huh, i was either going to go with that or the krylon stuff. said it would work on metal. did you use the basecoat? i need to just suck it up and get some powdercoating equipment. im sure i could make my money back powdercoating for friends etc

i found a can of the purple metalcast stuff in a car i scrapped, guess ill have to test it out before i go spend money on the blue stuff.

edit: actually now that i think of it i did spray some of it on some scrap metal i had layin around when i found it, did no surface prep and i just checked it and its still stickin to the metal. huh, wierd.

Thread title should be changed to "cheap horny slut intake manifold", cause that's about as sexy as one. It gets the job done I guess...

I agree also. Thread title got my hopes up... Not my choice of color but hey at least your keeping it clean! Good job with that, looks better than my dirty stocks.
