Hi Everybody,

I've noticed 4 or more of my window buttons are rusted and or the paint is starting to fade on them. Back in the day, we used to use a hammer and chisel to carefully remove them. Does anybody else have a better way to remove them? Perhaps cut a deep groove in the center with a Dremel tool and then use a huge flat head screwdriver to remove them? I'm thinking they might be extremely corroded underneath where they're threaded so it might be too risky to even try to remove them.

Hmmmm......thought 1994 and later had the newer non-corroding ones.

Early ones were bad.

On my 96Q, 2 of the buttons have the paint flaking off due to rubbing against the rubber molding when lowering/raising the window.

They have been like this for about 2 years, and they are NOT rusting at all, even though the metal is showing, and here in Md we do get snow/salted roads. One day,I will sand and repaint current buttons

Thank you for the responses. I was thinking of doing the same thing Qship, I doubt it would be too hard. Depends on the price of the new buttons of course.
