Severe torque steer (recent) - could it be motor/transmission mt?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I have had my 2000 Sentra se for almost 70k miles, now has 229K on the clock. The CV boots have been gone for a while, just started clicking and will be replaced soon, Within the last week or so the car has developed a severe pull to the right under heavy throttle, and pulls back to the left when I get off the throttle.

I have been getting thumping noises for a long time suggesting a bad motor or transmission mount but the torque steer was not there until recently. My mechanic says it sounds like the motor mount but I wanted to check here before I go digging around under the car.

Worn CV joints will not slip before failure will they?

Thanks in adance.

CV joints shouldn't slip. The horrific torque steer could definitely be from a bad motor mount. I'd start there.

Thanks, yeah I finally got under the car last night and the front mount is definitely split, and though I couldn't see it very well the driver side mount looks like it might be too. We had our first good rain here since the problem started and it was a little hairy at times (whereas just annoying on dry roads) so I will be getting to this real soon.
