Post

Hi all,

Just purchased a used 2000 Xterra SE and am now having extreme (EXTREME) hesitation problems when starting from a stop (i.e. intersections, onramps, etc). The primary symptom is a severe lack of power, as though the X is ignoring my foot down altogether. It keeps on ignoring me for anywhere from 2 seconds (best case) to 15+ seconds (worst case), during which time, the engine RPM stays idle-ish and then slowly creeps up thereafter.

I am able to keep it going once we hit about 15-30 MPH and/or 3000+ RPM.

Thoughts?! Thanks in advance!

Bob

Throwing any codes and is the SES light on?

Sounds like it could be a Throttle Position Sensor issue, but it could be a lot of other things too. If it's throwing codes, go have Auto Zone or someone pull the codes for you and post them up.
