Hey guys, got a question for ya, but a little back ground.

The other day, I was doing a lookover on my engine, and at one point reved it up, when I heard, what I thought was the BOV. Turns out, what I have been hearing for the last year and a half was the wastegate fluttering on my turbo, coming from the filter. (Not really the filter, but that's where the sound is heard.)

I reved it up again and put my hand in front of the BOV outlet, and nothing. So, I took the BOV off and did a little look see on it. I noticed that it has a slit on the side so you can see the actuator move up and down. Looks like it hasn't moved in forever. Some of you may remember a thread I started a few months back and I had talked about setting the spring a little stiffer. I only made about 3/4 to a full turn down. So it was set pretty tight when I got it in 04.

Now my BOV works. I loosened the set nut and backed the spring set screw all the way out and started over again. I made about four full turns and now, I have a BOV that makes a distinct sound...not the fluttering I thought was the BOV, and man is it LOUD!

My question is this. How do you set your BOV to vent properly, but not be soft enough to allow pressureized air to "blowby" the actuator? I want to make sure I am getting optimum hold from the BOV but not set so strong that it won't open between shifts or decelerating. Thanks.

it is the stocker or aftermarket. If stocker good luck. You'll have to ensure your vaccum line that is coming from the top plenum is not obstructed and check for lubrication of the valve itself. If it's after market they're usally adjustable. Same instructions as above but this will have a set screw of some sort for harder tension. Crank it about halfway then check your boost gauge to see if your at .5bar or 8-10 psi. Also, check your vaccum line to your wastegate. If it's not close then tighten untill you don't hear any leaking while boosting.

Setting the bov will help a little to bring up turbo pressure but not alot. It's mainly for leaking of boost pressure. The wastegate is where you'll get all the boost to hold for higer or lower boost.

seems like a sheep dog bov or arc. Not sure if adjustable but it is. it will be on top with a hex head screw or nut. Get a better pic or closer.

It's just like the one that Sean posted a pic of. The only thing it says on the BOV is Prof. That's it.
