Hey guys, I'm putting together a turbo kit for my '92 240sx. This is my first set-up for my 240 and I thought maybe all of you people who have been through this before (more than once) might have some good advice for me. Maybe I should go a differenent fuel route or maybe I should invest my money on an extra item to lessen the chance of something going wrong.

Garrett T3/T043 57 Trim Turbine Houseing: 0.63 A/RSSAC Turbo Manifold T3 flange38mm Tial Wastegate370cc Sr InjectorsDSM BOVHigh pressure 255 Walbro Fuel PumpOil feed/return kitS-AFC IIZ32 MAF24x12x3 FMIC SSACPiping.... I'm not sure what i'm gonna do for this yet.

Is there anything you feel I missed?? any info or advice would be appreciated, Thanks

We'll I actually was thinking of getting a log-style manifold from http://jgstools.com/turbo/index2.htmlBut I would need to get some welding done. I dont know of anyplace in socal even though i know there is. Anyone know of places to get it done?? and maybe what it would cost?

I would try one of our sponsors IAP manifold and downpipe before I would go log manifold.

I have had no problems with my ssautochrome top mount manifold (SR). If you do decide to buy that manifold first heat cycle it then take it to a napa and have the flanges resurfaced (should cost like $75). You can also strengthen then manifold if you would like (extra welding or a brace).

Some of the highest whp SR's use ssautochrome manifolds (there's a car in the classifieds with well over 600 whp using the same manifold I have)

I know this is a KA forum, but I thought I'd give you another perspective

Is this what you did with your manifold before installing it? I've heard a lot of bad things about the SSAC, but at the same time I've heard of quite a few people liking the manifold and having no problems with it. The turbo on the other hand is something I would not purchase. The pictures that I've seen of that is enough to keep me away from that. But I'm trying to save a little money in this area so I'm thinking this might be a good idea to buy this manifold and strengthen it a bit. How much does it cost to get the manifold heat cycled (around)?? The $75 is what Napa charges for just resufacing right?

Thanks for your replies.

Spend the $200 or so extra and get the IAP manifold (they give a HEFTY discount to NICO members). If ANYTHING goes wrong with the manifold you have a full warantee for a year, where as if anything goes wrong with the SSA manifold, they'll just say you installed it wrong, laugh, and you're **** out of luck.

If you don't have the money for it now - WAIT UNTIL YOU DO $200-$300 doesn't take that long to save up.

yeah they do. If my car doesn't sell, or if I end up getting another 240 without a SR already in it - I'll be going to them for my entire turbo kit.

Do yourself a favor and save up and get a manifold/dp set up from them - don't bother with SSA - believe me.

KA-T,

I installed the manifold on my car and drove around for two days. I dissasembled the manifold and took it to the nearest Napa machine shop and had them resurface the flanges. I then bought a metal t3 gasket, new studs, lock washers, red loctite, and nuts for t3 flange on the manifold. I have driven around for almost 4 months with no leaks, cracks, or problems with over 400whp every single day (it's my daily driver). The only thing i did to modify the manifold was smooth out the collector welds. I run a very large turbo (sc-61 with the larger 4 inch inlet cover) and I haven't seen any problems with stressing or cracking yet. If and when the manifold cracks (all do over time) I will bust out my welder and repair it, no biggie.

Hmmm...that sounds pretty good. What i didn't realize is that one of nico's sponsers is IAP. I might just get a manifold from there. that has a year waranty. Thanks for the info though.
