The timing marks are read from the left to right in 5's starting with 0(red mark crank). The marks should look like this |=0 |=5 |=10 |=15 |=20. Automatics are 20 degrees btdc and manuals are 15. The best way to get spark to your timing light would be to take out the number one coil pack(in front) and run a short spark plug wire in between the coil pack and the spark plug. Then pull the spark pulse through there. As for the timing alignment mark its on the lower timing cover.

If you don't want to remove the cover, you can use the timing light hooked to the black loop that comes off of the coil mounted on the top/back of the plug cover. From that loop, timing will be 25 degrees instead of 15 because of it's location from the plug.

You must unplug the tps when setting timing, and idle must be at about 750rpms. Make sure you hook up the light with clamp in the right direction (if inductive style) or it will read way wrong...it should have an arrow, that arrow should point towards the plug.
