Setting ring gap on oil ring spacer?

I'm a bit confused on the oil ring spacer (ie, the conformational ring that acts as a spacer between the two oil control rings... hope I'm using the proper terminology here.) Should I set the gap on the ring as well, or should it be slightly oversize to press the oil rings against the bore when installed?

Thanks!

It will seem fairly oversized when not compressed, just make sure that the ends of the ring do not overlap. You should be able to see both the green and red marks on the ring when installed on piston, or whatever kind of marking you ring has to indicate proper order.

the ring that looks like a zipper, some of em you can install without a compressor and some of em you have to compress them to size. like devious said, make sure they butt together but not overlap
