Need advice on setting the new timing belt.

Before removing the old belt we noticed that with driver side cam timing marks on the sprokets matched exactly to the timing marks on the back cover. The passinger side cams were both one tooth before the timing marks on the back cover. We marked the exact location of the passinger side cams with a spot of paint on the back cover and removed the old belt.

We have the new belt lines set exactly on the crank and driverside cam timing marks. We are one tooth off on the passinger side cams.

Should we rotate the passinger side cams one tooth clockwise to line up with the timing marks on the back covers allowing the new timing belt lines to fall in place?

Or should we leave the passinger side cams in the position we found them and tension the new belt?

The dots on the back covers are just to help you get them close. What matters is the lines on the belt lining up with the dots on the actual cams. Make sure those are exact.

Forget the marks on the back panel and count the teeth on the belt and align with mark on cam sprokets.
