09 G37x head unit failed. Got a refab, Worked perfect. After changing the HDD in the unit to what contained my wife's music, this unit shorted upon with a pop and smoke. Yes, I was mistaken in not disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Confession is good for the soul.

Since it blew, the VDC OFF, SLIP, SES and TIRE Inflation warning lights are all lit.

Checked brake fluid level, good. New pads, rotors and calibers on rear with all good in the front.

Called two dealerships, and neither service writer could give me fuse numbers for those circuits. I have found internet references but none that specified specific locations for those dash lights and circuits.

Has anyone had success getting access to the BCM fuse box without having to pull out the battery or know which fuses or relays I should be looking at? One advisor suggested I pull each fuse and check for continuity.

New used head unit from 1factoryradio in Richmond VA. Great guys. Extremely helpful.

Learned that the unit will only work with original HDD. Also learned that in AUX and TEXT there is an option to erase the drive to load preferred music. I could not find any reference to that, which if I knew, I could have avoid all this. Thanks, Dan

You can find the wiring diagrams for the AV systems here, there are 5 different options depending on your equipment:

I didn't look, but chances are they all use the same fuse arrangement. Once you gather the related fuse numbers from the correct diagram, you can find the fuse and FL box layouts on PG-114 and the IPDM layout on PG-28 here:

Vstar, Thanks for the post. Hoping they are all on the same arrangement as you mentioned. Do you think it makes sense to pull and check every fuse in the drivers side panel and IPDM to be safe although what you suggested seems like a short cut to avoid having to do that.

No, just find the fuses involved and check them. Aside from the Bose amp, the AV Units usually only have two fuses, one battery and one accessory/ignition. Checking fuses visually is a fool's errand. Sometimes they crack at the base and not the middle, and in any case your eyes can't tell you whether the circuit has power. The right tool to check any power circuit is a $4 bulb-type test lamp that draws power:

Put the gator on ground and probe both sides of the fuse, there are only four possible results:
Both sides bright (same as between battery plus and minus) - Fuse and circuit are good
Both sides light but dimly - Resistance in the circuit between the battery and fuse
One side lights - Fuse is blown
Neither side lights - Circuit has no power

PS - The AV battery fuse is probably located in the Fusible Link & Relay Box, not the IPDM. Chances are there's nothing in the IPDM that needs checking unless you find no power to the accessory/ignition fuse.

Oh crap, sorry, I was going by your sig and didn't see that the MY was a G and not an M. Here's the AV link...

...and here's the PG link...

...for an '09 G sedan. The whole FSM is in there if you go to the manuals page:

PPS - Your PM's are turned off, I got your message but couldn't reply to it.

All is back in order. Checked all fuses under hood. All were good. Reseated all connectors in BCM and IPDM. Removed fuse box in driver's compartment. That was fun.
Found one blown 10 amp fuse at the very bottom of one of the columns of fuses. It was designated as METER (BAT). Reseated the four relays. That fuse took care of the underinflation, SLIP, VDC OFF lights. Unsure if reseating connectors and relays did anything.

The SRS warning light was reset by turning the system on and turning it off when the SRS light begins to blink. Need to repeat that 3X and start the car on the 4th. No more SRS blinking red light.

Thanks for your posts on this.

That fuse supplies the meter C/U and AWD in addition to the meter itself, so that definitely explains a lot of lights and a downed AV Unit. Good work!
