My 2000 i30 got SES TCS and SLIP all light up but OBD2 found no codes.
So I perform Self-Diagnosis by ground terminal “9” of “Data link connector”,
and found code 87 = Engine parts are under fail-safe condition.

What happen was after a very hard stop (from 65mph in few seconds).
From that point on, the engine got choke when driving and RPM above 2500.
Visual inspect brakes, sensor wires, connectors but nothing loose or broke.

Any suggestion would appreciated.

check your brake fluid. ;) same thing happened to me one time when i braked really hard. the brake fluid was really low and it set off the SLIP,VDC light when the fluid shifted. filled it back up to normal level and all was good.

Thank you for suggestion... the brake fluid was close to MAX.
Since could not find any thing. I went ahead for little tune-up.
I replaced Air Filter, Spark plugs and reset light.
So far driven 50 miles (highway/city) and no trouble yet.

Problem still there until... replacing the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor!!!

It's unbelievable a hard stop would cause that. So the symptoms are:
1. TCS ans SLIPP light up (sometime SES too) but OBD2 found no codes.
2. Acceleration is not smooth and choke-up at 2500 RPM.

Solution: Replace MAF. :yesnod

The hard braking probably rattled the MAF sensor housing so hard, breaking the fragile (and worn-down) sensing element and/or internal components, resulting in 'limp-mode' (limited RPM). The TCS_SLIP lights were probably from the wheel sensors detecting differences in speed during braking. But limp-mode is a hard fault and should have triggered trouble code P0100, indicating problem with the MAF as above. Really strange.
